Drug Abuse in North Kashmir: Drug peddler arrested, Property worth lakhs attached
Handwara, 9 Aug, KNT: Police in North Kashmir have arrested a notorious drug peddler and seized the property of another drug peddler.
The police said that in the Kralgund area of Handwara, they seized illegally acquired property of a notorious drug peddler, namely Mushtaq Nabi Mir of Kralgund under the NDPS Act.
“The property of Horticulture plot measuring 1 Kanal 8 Marlas worth lakhs have been attached as illegally acquired property through the sale of narcotic drugs,” Handwara police as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust said.
According to the Police, this action, executed under section 68-F of the NDPS Act 1985, marks a significant stride in curbing the narcotics trade in the region.
The police added that the accused drug peddler Mushtaq Mir is currently detained under the stringent PIT-NDPS Act at Central Jail Kot Belwal Jammu.
The attachment of the drug peddler’s property comes after a thorough investigation by Handwara Police, revealing its illegal acquisition linked to the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, police said.
In another incident, Police arrested a notorious and wanted drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
The drug peddler who was arrested by a police party at the Wasun Pattan area of Baramulla has been identified as Amir Khaliq Dar, a resident of Khambiyar, Palhallan.
During the search 3.250 kgs of contraband Poppy Straw-like substances were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Pattan where he remains in custody. [KNT]
