J&K: 5 human lives lost in over a month

Jammu Kashmir witnessed two encounters and 3 militant attacks since the beginning of the year.

The first encounter raged at Hadigam village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district where militants managed to break the cordon. At the Chotigam Shopian encounter, a local militant Bilal Rasool Bhat from Chek Cholan village of Shopian was killed.

Militants carried out three attacks, one in the Valley and two in the Jammu region.

Militants shot dead two non-local men from Punjab- Amritpal Singh and Rohit Mashi in the Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar.

In the Jammu region, militants attacked a forces convoy in Krishna Ghati Poonch. All the soldiers escaped unhurt. An army soldier was killed while two others were injured in an IED blast in the Nowshera Sector of Rajouri district.

An army soldier Gurpreet Singh was killed while performing an operational task in the forward area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. [KNT]
