Tales of police valour need to be documented, 1600 cops killed in 33 years: DGP RR Swain

Emphasizing the need to document the tales of police valor, Jammu Kashmir Police Chief, R R Swain Thursday said that in 33 years, over 1600 police personnel have sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Director General of Police was talking to reporters at Police Headquarters Jammu.

He said not only policemen were killed but their families were intimidated and harassed, even their family members and relatives were killed.

R R Swain said this amply shows the commitment, rectitude, and conviction of the Jammu Kashmir police force.

He said the time is ripe for the documentation of tales about the heroism of police personnel. “There are some untold stories which need to be documented,” he said.

He said the Jammu Kashmir Police has been honored with 72 gallantry medals by the President of India and it makes them the highest gallantry medal winners among state police forces

In response to a question, the DGP said that security arrangements to celebrate R-Day functions across Jammu and Kashmir are well in place. [KNT]
