Rajouri-Poonch belt witnessed increased militant activities: Army Chief

Indian Army Chief Manoj Pande Thursday said that Rajouri-Poonch belt in Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed increased militant activities.

While speaking during his annual press conference at Manekshaw Centre in Delhi, the Army Chief said that militants continue to get support from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir. He said army continue to foil infiltration bids along Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. “There have been infiltration attempts along the Line of Control (LoC), which the Army has foiled.”

He said that the Rajouri-Poonch belt has seen increased militant activities and the support infrastructure for proxy tandems in this sector from across the border continues.

He added that the ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan along the LoC continues.

General Pande further said that India is continuing to hold “talks at military and diplomatic levels to find resolution to balanced issues” in eastern Ladakh, where Indian and Chinese troops are locked in a standoff that began in 2020. “Situation on the northern border is stable but sensitive,” he said.
