Retired police officer shot dead in North Kashmir’s Baramulla

Suspected militants shot dead a retired police officer in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

According to police militants fired upon the retired Superintendent of Police inside a mosque in Gantamulla area while he was calling Azan for pre-dawn (fajar) prayers. The officers sustained grievous injuries and was taken to hospital where doctors declared him dead.

This is the first such incident when gunmen shot dead a police officer inside the mosque.

The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Shafi Mir.
