Job aspirants accuse Kashmir University of shutting the door for ‘freshers’

Job aspirants have accused the University of Kashmir of nepotism by stating that it only thinks about those who already work on a contractual basis in the varsity and ignores those experienced, fresher, and deserved aspirants who work outside the peripheries of University.

The University of Kashmir recently sought online application forms from the domiciles of Jammu & Kashmir for the post of ‘System Engineer’ (Data Centre Operations). Besides the essential qualifications, the University laid down a condition that the aspirant should have 5 years of experience in Data Centre Operations in a Government Department or from a University or Educational or Research Institution.

Several job aspirants told news agency Kashmir News Trust that there are over 5 to 8 persons who already have been working as System Engineers at the Kashmir University on a contractual basis for the last several years. “This job advertisement suits them and not the outsiders. We think the condition from the Univesity of Kashmir has shut the doors of opportunity for us,” they said.

The job aspirants alleged that it is a sheer example of nepotism. “There are scores of aspirants who have recently completed their degrees and don’t have 5 years experience. Does that mean they are not eligible for the post?” they questioned and sought the intervention of Vice Chancellor Kashmir University. [KNT]
