From delayed examination to delayed results, University’s DLL fails to complete 3 year course in time

University of Kashmir’s Directorate of Lifelong Learning (DLL) has badly failed to complete the 3 courses of students Bachelors of Vocation in Automotive Technology (B.Voc)  and Electronic Media in stipulated time. From delayed examination to delayed results, the students even after the expiry of 4 years have yet to appear in their last 6th semester examination and have been waiting impatiently for the results of their 5th semester examination since May this year.

The callous attitude of the Directorate of Lifelong Learning has added to the hardships of scores of students who have been roaming from pillar to post to be herd but all in vain.

A number of students told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the courses were started under Deen Dayal Upadhyay (Kaushal) Kendra in 2019, however, the varsity is yet to complete these courses.

The students said that the University’s Directorate of Lifelong Learning (DLL) earlier had failed to set up the necessary facilities for them, and now interest is being shown in completing these two courses.

Interestingly, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has stopped funds for these courses after the Directorate of Lifelong Learning at Kashmir University failed to come up with a satisfactory reply when details were sought from it about Rs 3 crore grant and its usage.

“These so-called newly oriented courses have become a source of nuisance and frustration for us. We met VC Kashmir University, Controller Examination, and others and everybody resorted to lip service,” students said adding that there is only one faculty for two batches.

“We joined these three-year courses in 2019 and these courses were supposed to be completed in 2022. It is 2023 and counting.”

When contacted, the Director in the Directorate of Lifelong Learning (DLL) Ghulam Hassan Mir said they have already submitted the awards to the Controller Examination Kashmir University and he hopes the result of the 5th semester will be out within days. “As far as the delay in courses is concerned, it all happened because of Covid in 2019,” he said adding that not weeks but the result will be out within days.
