Three officers killed in South Kashmir encounter

Three officers from Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police were killed in an exchange of fire in Gadole Kokarnaga area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

As per the details Joint forces cordoned off Gadole area of Kokarnag after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in a hideout. The area was cordoned off in the intervening night of September 12 and 13 and on Wednesday when forces were inching towards the hideout, the militants fired upon them in which 2 officers from the army and one officer from the police sustained injuries.

All the officers were airlifted to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The slain officers have been identified as Deputy Superinendent of Police Humayun Bhat, Colonel Manpreet Singh from 19 Rashtriya Rifles and Major Ashish.
