Kupwara man tries to jump off telecom tower, comes down after counselling from Police

A man from frontier district Kupwara tried to jump off from a telecom tower in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, however after counselling from the police, he changed his mind and came down.
The incident occurred in Humhama area of Budgam on the second day of Eid-ul-Fitr today.
A police official told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a man climbed over a telecom tower with the intention to commit suicide.
“He had really gone very high up in fact on top of the tower and he was threatening to commit suicide,” he said adding that after several hours of counselling by the cops from Humhama Police Station the man came down.
Hundreds of people including passers-by looked on while police coaxed him and managed to save his life.
The man has been identified as Kaisar Ahmed Khan son of Ghulam Muhammad, a resident of Madina Colony Kupwara.
If sources are to be believed, the 32-year-old man who is a shopkeeper by profession is a psychiatrist patient.
“He will be handed over to his family members and efforts are on to know the reason behind his suicide attempt,” said the official. [KNT]
