A locality from Srinagar city is without electricity for the past five days as the electric transformer got damaged twice plunging the entire area into darkness.

The locals from Bagh-e-Lala Pandit locality of Noor Bagh area of Srinagar said that the freshly installed power transformer was rendered defunct in the middle of the night five days ago and since then transformer has not been installed.

“The transformer was damaged last week leaving us high and dry and when it was replaced after a lot of struggle but to our shock, it was damaged again hours after its installation,” the locals told news agency Kashmir News Trust.

The residents said that for the past two weeks they have been suffering in absence of electric supply.

They said that they failed to understand how the transformer developed a snag soon after its repair.

They appealed to authorities to install a 400 KVA transformer to curb the load menace.

The locals said that the transformer is still lying at a workshop and they believe authorities are in no mood to install it. [KNT]
