Mentally sick man kills trio including his mother in South Kashmir – ‘Kashmir News Trust #KNT

In a horrific incident, a mentally sick person allegedly in an ‘inebriated’ condition beat up six persons including his mother among which three persons including the mother of the accused died in the hospital.

The incident occurred in Ashmuqam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The accused has been arrested by the police while three persons with critical injuries are being treated in different hospitals.

Divulging information about the incident, a police official on condition of anonymity told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the accused identified as Javaid Hasan Rather, a resident of Diyaroo Ashmuqam who is believed to be mentally unfit attacked six persons among which three including his mother died in the hospital.

He said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at the concerned police station.

Local sources said that the accused who probably was highly inebriated first attacked his mother Hafiza Begum at his home. They said the accused later on went on a rampage and attacked five other locals with a heavy stick. Some of the victims sustained critical head injuries and were shifted to the hospital.

Local sources identified the injured as Hafiza Begum (mother of the accused), Abdul Rehman Wani son of Ama Wani, Ghulam Nabi Khadim son of Assadullah Khadim, Muhammad Sultan Saka son of Muhammad Yousuf, Muhammad Amin Shah son of Ghulam Rasool Shah and Muhammad Ramzan son of Abdul Satar, all residents of Ashmuqam.

Among the injured, Hafiza Begum, Ghulam Nabi Khadim, and Muhammad Amin Shah succumbed to their injuries at Sub-District Hospital Seer Hamdan.

Hospital sources said that the condition of one of the injured Muhammad Sultan is stated to be critical at District Hospital Anantnag while another injured Muhammad Ramzan has been shifted to SKIMS Srinagar in serious condition. [KNT]
