Four members of a family sustained injuries after a landslide struck a house in Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir, and later on two among them (mother-daughter duo) succumbed to their injuries in the hospital on Friday.

Official sources said that a landslide hit a house in the Baffliaz area on DKG road in Poonch on Friday morning, resulting in the death of 40-year-old woman Naseema Akhtar and her 12-year-old daughter Rubina Kounsar.

The owner of the house and the husband of the deceased woman Lateef Ahmed and his son Basharat Ahmed were injured in the mishap.

Official sources added that the injured are being treated in the hospital and their condition is stable.

A police official while confirming the death of the mother-daughter duo said that a formal case has been registered in this regard.

Officials from police and civil administration have rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. (KNT)
