Amid the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other VVIPs, the markets in Kashmir capital Srinagar are open and doing a brisk business.

Home Minister Amit Shah who arrived in Srinagar on Tuesday evening is scheduled to address a rally in Baramulla.

Unlike in the past when life used to come to a grinding halt due to strikes on the visit of any VVIP from New Delhi, this time there is no strike and shops are open in every nook and cranny.

An eyewitness told news agency Kashmir News Trust (KNT), all shops are open in Srinagar city including city-centre Lal Chowk, Regal Chowk, Maisuma, Kokar Bazar, Gonikhan, Iqbal Park, Hari Singh High Street, Karan Nagar, Batamaloo and other parts.

“Everything is normal in Srinagar, shops open, transport plying as per routine and people doing normal chorus,” said a pedestrian. (KNT)
