Police recover pistol, bullets from sewing machine on the disclosure of man facing trial under Arms Act

Joint Forces have recovered a pistol and bullets on the disclosure of a man already facing trial under the Arms Act in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said on Monday.

The police said that local army unit (3/8-GR) and a police party from police post-Taad in Karnah raided the house of one Muhammad Shafi Sheikh, a resident of Hajitra Karnah. During questioning, the accused disclosed that he has concealed pistol, bullets and magazine in a sewing machine.

Accordingly, the search team recovered a Pistol, 11 Pistol bullets, and its two magazines, and 2 live grenades.

The accused has been taken into custody and a case under relevant sections of law stands registered against him.

Police said that the accused has already been facing trial in a similar case charge-sheeted against him in the year 2021. More arrests are expected in the case, the police added. (KNT)
