Action to be taken against repeated traffic offenders: SP Traffic Srinagar city

Traffic Department is mulling to take legal action against repeated traffic offenders in Kashmir capital Srinagar.

While talking to reports, SP Traffic Srinagar city, Muzaffar Ahmed Shah said that e-challans are the best way to find out the history of repeated offenders. “It is easy to retrieve the data about a challaned vehicle. If the data will show that the driver is a repeated traffic offender, we will approach the court and even to RTO to initiate action against the offenders,” he said adding that it was difficult to retrieve the data about a challaned vehicle manually.


SP Traffic Srinagar city, Muzaffar Ahmed Shah as per news agency Kashmir News Trust said that they are very serious in curbing the menace of ‘minor driving.’ “We call the parents and counsel them. It is illegal and an offense to allow minors to drive vehicles. Besides, we are trying to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in Srinagar city and take action against the traffic offenders.

He said that under the Smart City project is road via Raj Bagh bund is coming up that will ease the traffic congestion on the Rambagh-Natipora road. “There is traffic congestion on Rambagh-Natipora road but we are trying to regulate the traffic smoothly and have taken various measures in this regard,” he said.
