In an example of communal harmony and humanity, Muslim neighbors performed the last rites of a pandit woman in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Local sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that Chuni Devi (75) wife of Chuni Lal Kanna of Pergochi village of Shopian passed away after an illness.

As the news about her demise spread, Muslim neighbors gathered in large number and arranged everything for her funeral.

“From gathering wood for the funeral to carrying the body to the crematorium – the Muslim neighbors joined hands to carry out all the formalities for the deceased woman’s last rites, in line with the cremation practices of Kashmiri Pandits,” said a local. (KNT)
