Amid the buzz that the government is mulling building a cancer hospital or a sports stadium on 70 kanals of Eidgah Srinagar land, Peoples Democratic Party leader Mehbooba Mufti said that why to touch the land used for congregational prayers and why not to use the vast ‘Tatoo Ground’ land for the same purpose.

“It is not feasible to have a cancer hospital in a populated area. It will have harmful effects and the other thing is that it is obligatory for the government take Muslim Clerics on board before taking any decision,” Mehbooba told reporters in Srinagar.

She said that if the government of India is too serious to build to a hospital or a playfield then it has ‘Tatoo Ground’ and it can use that land. “Why target Eidgah which is the congregational place for Muslims who offer Eid prayers there,” she said.

Mehbooba Mufti said that the government forgets the fact that Eidgah land has been allocated to Muslims for prayers. “It is important to talk to Muslim community first,” she said and reiterated that ‘Tatoo Ground’ can be used to build a hospital or for the development of a world-class sports stadium.
