Six JeM associates arrested in South Kashmir’s Kulgam: Police

Police Friday said that it arrested 6 militant associates from the banned outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Police in a handout said that these arrests were made by police station DH Pora and soldiers from 9 Rashtriya Rifles.

The statement reads that on the basis of specific information regarding the carrying out of subversive activities in Mirhama and Damhal Hanjipora area of Kulgam a major breakthrough was achieved with the arrest of 6 militant associates who were identified as Shahid Ahmed Paddar alias Jeela, Ubaid Ahmed Itoo, Abid Mushtaq alias Raju, all residents of Mirhama, Danish Ahmed Dar of DH Pora, Nawaz Ahmed Ganai of Dangarpora and Kifayat Ahmed Lone alias Rinku, a resident of Muhammadpora.

Police said that a Pistol magazine, a grenade, 18 pistol rounds, 4 UBGL shells, 2 mortar shells, 446 rounds of M4, 8 M4 magazines, one Insas magazine, a wireless set and 4 Walky Talky were recovered from their possession.

Police said that arrested persons were in touch with handlers across the border through social media and were associated with the banned militant organization JeM.

The arrested accused were hell-bent to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in district Kulgam by way of carrying grenade attacks, intimidating innocent civilians, standoff fire attacks on PRI members, minority communities,” police said adding that a case against them has been registered at police station DH Pora.
