Body of missing boy attacked by a leopard recovered

The dead body of a 12-year-old boy who was attacked and subsequently dragged by a leopard along with it in Uri forest area was recovered by locals on Monday.

As per locals, the boy identified as Shakir Ahmed Ganaie son of Abdul Jabar, a resident of Trikanjan village of Baramulla was attacked by a predator in the forest area on Sunday where he was grazing the cattle. The predator, probably a leopard as per locals had taken the boy along while a search operation had been launched to trace the missing boy.

The search operation team located the mauled body of the boy in the Bachu forest area on Monday. A police official said that body parts of the boy were found at different places. He said locals, army and police jointly had launched a search operation to locate the boy.

After the legal formalities, the body had been handed over to the family for the last rites. (KNT)
