Police arrest three narcotics dealers including a lady in North Kashmir’s Kupwara, recover, charas, brown sugar, cash

 

Kupwara: Police Wednesday said that it arrested duo including a lady narcotics dealer and recovered brown sugar-like substance from their possession in North Kashmir’s Kupwara.

Police said that a joint team of Kupwara Police and Army on Tuesday late evening while conducting routine checking at LoC gate recovered two packets of narcotics containing a Brown Sugar-like substance from the possession of a lady and her accomplice.

Identified as Gullu Begum wife of Rasheed Khan of  Dader (Kandiyan) and Tanveer Khan son of Naseer Khan resident of  Kandiyan, the duo as per police had earlier in the day crossed the LoC gate on the pretext of doing farming in the fields across the gate. However, while returning, the duo carried the smuggled narcotics and were caught carrying two packets of narcotics weighing 1.75 Kg and arrested. The narcotics has been smuggled in from across the Line of Control from PaK.

Police said that a case vide FIR number 06/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Keran and investigations taken up.

In another incident, Police recover charas, cash in a raid from a narcotic dealer’s house in North Kashmir’s Kupwara.

Police said that it arrested a drug peddler from whose possession police ‘recovered a huge narcotics consignment besides unauthorized cash’ in Diver Lolab area in frontier north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Police in a statement said that on receipt of specific input, a team headed by DySP Lolab and SHO Lalpora Mushtaq Ahmad apprehended a person at Kakkadpatti in Diver Lolab.

“During the searches that were conducted in presence of Executive Magistrate, the police team recovered 12-kilograms of Charas-like substance and an unauthorized amount of 5.60 lakh from the possession of the person.”

As per the police statement, the accused were identified as Muhammad Shafi Gojar son of Jumma Gojar against whom a case (27/2022) under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at police station Lalpora. (KNT)
