BJP stages march demanding ‘safe accommodation’ for ‘vulnerable’ Sarpanchs, Panchs

Srinagar: Bhartiya Janata Party workers Tuesday threatened to go for an indefinite hunger strike if government doesn’t provide security cover and accommodation to Sarpanchs and Panchs in Kashmir Valley.

Scores of BJP workers assembled at Press Enclave Srinagar and marched towards Civil Secretariat amid anti-administration slogans. They alleged that bureaucratic set-up has deprived the vulnerable lot of the security and safe accommodation.

BJP Spokesperson Altaf Thakur who was part of the protest told news agency Kashmir News Trust that if government fails to provide security and accommodation to Sarpanchs and Panchs within 10 days, then they will go for indefinite hunger strike.
While seeking the intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Thakur said BJP workers, activists, Sarpanchs and Panchs are vulnerable and thus need to be protected. (KNT)
