Srinagar: Authorities on Friday sealed two meat and a vegetable shop in Iqbal Colony Sonwar area after the owners were caught selling meat and vegetables at higher-than-approved rate.
An official from Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) told news agency Kashmir News Trust that market checking was conducted in different parts of Srinagar under the supervision of Assistant Director Mushtaq Ahmed.
He said District Magistrate Srinagar has directed daily inspections of all fresh food markets across the city. He has called for strict action against all those indulging in overpricing.
The official said that owners of two mutton shops and a vegetable shop were caught selling the stuff on exorbitant rates. “All the three shops were sealed and action against the owners will be taken under Essential Commodities Act,” he said. (KNT)
