Rifle snatching bid foiled in South Kashmir’s Anantnag

Anantnag: Suspected militants made an unsuccessful bid to snatch a rifle from a trooper in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The incident occurred at Reshi Bazar market of the district.

Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that suspected militants emerged in the market and sprayed chilly powder into the eyes of a trooper on guard duty.

The other troopers at a distance rushed towards his colleague forcing suspected militants to flee from the spot.

“It was a rifle snatching bid that has been foiled,” said an official.
The trooper was standing outside the quarter where Kashmiri Pandits reside.

The area was brought under cordon and a search operation was launched to nab the suspected militants. (KNT)
