Protest: Gawkadal area faces acute water-shortage problem

Srinagar: Alleging failure of PHE Department in providing adequate water supply to them, the locals mostly women folk from Gawkadal and adjacent areas of Srinagar city Tuesday held a protest.

The protesters raised slogans against the PHE Department stating that water shortage has badly hit Gawkadal and adjacent areas.

One of the protesters told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that despite taking up the issue with authorities, the water scarcity problem still persists.

“We are living in the heart of the city and yet face acute water shortage. This grave issue has forced us to hit the road to attract the attention of the authorities,” the protesters said and appealed to authorities to mitigate their sufferings. (KNT)
