Encounter Aftermath: Train Service From Pulwama To Anantnag Suspended

 

Pulwama: In wake of yesterday’s encounter that resulted in the killing of two local LeT militants, authorities on Friday suspended train service from Awantipora in Pulwama district to Anantnag.

“In view of Friday and yesterday’s incident at Naina Batpora in the jurisdiction of GRPP Bijbehara, the place of occurrence is adjacent to the railway track,” the letter reads, adding, “It is therefore requested the train service from Anantnag to Awantipora may kindly be suspended,” a letter from SSP Railways to Inspector General of Police Kashmir reads.

Yesterday, two militants Shahid Ahmed Khan of Batapora Pulwama and Fayaz Ahmed of Shahpora Ganderbal were killed in Batapora Naina encounter.

The rail service was suspended amid “apprehensions of law and order problem.”

However, train service from Banihal to Anantnag chugged along on track as per routine. (KNT)
