SKIMS leaves unemployed youth high and dry, withdraws advertised posts after a year

The protesting job aspirants sought intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

SRINAGAR: Much sufferings to the unemployed youth of Kashmir Valley, Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura has withdrawn at least 66 advertised posts after the expiry of one year.

This move from SKIMS has left job aspirants high and dry who seek explanation from authorities.

The job aspirants who had applied for the different posts advertised by the SKIMS staged a protest at Press Enclave Srinagar.

These protesting job aspirants told news agency Kashmir News Trust that SKIMS advertised 183 posts in June 2020. “Applications were invited for the posts of Accountant Assistants, Lift Mechanics, Technicians Medical Group, Stewards and others. Our one year long wait ended on a sordid note when SKIMS abruptly withdrew 66 posts and informed the applicants that these posts won’t be filled up now.”

“Why we were made to wait for a year? We in fact were preparing for the examination and didn’t apply for jobs anywhere from past one year. Nobody responds from SKIMS and no concrete reason is being given for the withdrawal of these posts,” the job aspirants said adding they have apprehensions that these posts might have been filled up already through ‘illegal’ means.

The protesting job aspirants sought intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Despite repeated attempts, Director SKIMS didn’t respond to phone calls. (KNT)
