Police book trio on charges of killing Srinagar man

Srinagar: Police have booked trio in connection with the killing of a salesman of a Pandit shopkeeper here in Kashmir capital Srinagar.

All the three accused are the residents of Lelhar village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Pertinently, on 9 November this month, suspected militants allegedly mistook a salesman Muhammad Ibrahim Khan as Pandit shopkeeper Sandeep Mawa and shot him dead in Bohrikadal area of Srinagar. Ibrahim, a resident of Danamer Eidgah died on way to hospital while police station MR Gunj Srinagar had registered a case (FIR 86/2021 under section 307, 7/27 Indian Arms Act) in this regard and set investigation into motion.

Police sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that after investigation, police station Kakapora arrested 4 suspects and all were brought to police station MR Gunj. Among the 4 suspects, 3 were booked on charges of murdering Muhammad Ibrahim Khan.

Police identified the accused as Aijaz Ahmed Lone, Showkat Ahmed Dar and Naseer Ahmed Shah, all residents of Lelhar Kakapora, Pulwama. (KNT)
