Sarpanchs, Panchs stage protest against lack of basic facilities

Anantnag: Scores of Sarpanchs and Panchs lodged at Hostel building of Government Degree College Khanabal area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district Thursday staged a massive protest against lack of basic amenities.

Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that over 100 Sarpanchs and Panchs affiliated with different political parties especially BJP assembled in the premises of Degree College threatening to go for an indefinite hunger strike if their basic requirements are not taken care of.

The protesting Sarpanchs and Panchs alleged that substandard food is being served to them and there are no basic facilities for them.

“We request district administration to take care of us in a humane way and treat us as human beings. The food we are served is unfit for consumption,” they said.

The protesters sought intervention of top authorities.

Pertinently, following attacks on representatives and political workers, majority of them have been shifted to safer places across Kashmir Valley. (KNT)
