13 members of 2 families get sick after eating wild vegetables in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal

GANDERBAL: At least 13 members from 2 families including 9 women got ill after consuming some wild vegetables in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Local sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that some women from Banjar Basti Gutlibagh village of Ganderbal had collected some wild vegetables possibly mushrooms from the forest adjacent to their houses and brought them to make vegetables.  After cooking them, when members of two families ate those vegetable, their health deteriorated after a while.

When the health started getting worse, the neighbours shifted to nearby medical facility where doctors referred them to SKIMS Srinagar for treatment.

A medico at SKIMS confirmed that 13 members from 2 families have been admitted in the hospital for food poisoning. He said 5 have been discharged while the condition of one of the members identified as Muhammad Shafeeq Shah is somewhat critical. (KNT)
