Post Bear Attack: People accuse Wild Life Officer of misbehaviour in South Kashmir

The officer lost his cool when community members accused him of negligence after a wild bear attacked a community member damaging his left eye.

DOORU: Nomadic community from Reasi, stationed in Dooru area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district accused In-Charge Wild Life Department of ‘misbehavior’ and ‘arrogance. The community members alleged that the officer instead of performing his duty displayed sheer arrogance.

The officer lost his cool when community members accused him of negligence after a wild bear attacked a community member damaging his left eye.

One of the community members Junaid Ahmed told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a wild bear attacked Mukhtar Ahmed Poswal, a labourer by profession at Fathepor Dooru. The bear damaged his eye. “When we informed the Wild Life Department In-Charge Dooru and Kulgam Shabir Ahmed about the presence of the bear, he along with his men arrived with sticks and instead of inquiring about the condition of the injured youth misbehaved with us.

“The Wild Life men headed by the officer were not carrying any equipment. When we asked questions, he misbehaved with us accussed us of interfering in his work.”

The Gujjar family whose member was attacked by bear hails from Reasi and currently they are putting up at Fathepor Dooru.

They claimed that In-Charge Wild Life Officer was furious after they repeated called him over phone about the incident. “He even said stop disturbing him,” the father of the victim said. (KNT)
