Locals in Tangmarg area rescue a child from the clutches of a leopard
TANGMARG: Locals rescued a child from the clutches of a leopard this evening in Tangmarg area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The incident occurred in Gulabdaji area of Tangmarg during evening prayers.
One of the eyewitnesses told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a leopard pounced upon a child and tried to drag him, but timely action from the locals forced the leopard to drop down the child and fled from the spot.
“Thankfully, it was Nimaz time and people were moving toward the mosque when the incident occurred. We rescued the child, but he suffered some injuries and has been shifted to nearby Primarmy Health Centre located in Poshkar area,” he said.
The condition of the child is stated to be stable. He has been identified as Inam Ahmed Mir son of Muzaffar Ahmed Mir, a resident of Gulabdaji Tangmarg.
The locals have appealed Wild Life Department to dispatch a team to trap the big cat. (KNT)
