Body of Kupwara youth who jumped from Srinagar bridge retrieved

SRINAGAR: The body of Kupwara youth who shot a video before ending his life has been retrieved from the river Jehlum by the River Police here in Kashmir capital Srinagar.

Saqib Ahmed, an 11th class student from Kupwara who was putting up along with his brother and cousin in a rented house in Kawdara area of Srinagar had jumped into the river from Cement Bridge Qamarwari a few days back.

Before jumping into the river, Saqib had shot a video seeking forgiveness from his parents. His video had gone viral on social media.

The efforts to retrieve his body was on from past several days. An official confirmed to news agency Kashmir News Trust that his body has been retrieved over a half-kilometer away from the spot where he had actually fallen after jumping from the bridge.

After the completion of all medico-legal formalities, the body has been handed over to family for last rites. (KNT)
