J&K Assembly Pays Tribute to Victims of Pahalgam Attack

Jammu, Apr 28, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Monday observed a two-minute silence to honour the memory of 26 people who lost their lives in the recent militant attack at Pahalgam.

As the special session of the House began, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather strongly condemned the killing of innocent tourists who had come from different parts of the country.
“We offer our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pay homage to the victims,” the Speaker said before asking members to stand in silence as a mark of respect.

Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary also moved a resolution on behalf of the government, expressing deep sorrow and outrage over the brutal and senseless attack on tourists.

On April 22, militants had opened fire at Baisaran, a popular tourist destination in the upper reaches of Pahalgam in Anantnag district, killing 26 people, most of them vacationers from outside Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
