People from border villages of Ladakh demanded that Galwan Valley should be thrown open for tourists.

They made this demand to the visiting Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Parshottam Rupala who visited several border villages of Ladakh including Shayok, Chillam, Sato, Kargyam Parma and Phobrang.

Locals as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust put forward various demands including the opening of Galwan valley for domestic tourists.

Both domestic and foreign tourists are prohibited from entering Galwan Valley since 2020 – the year, when at least twenty Indian Army personnel, including the Commanding Officer of the 16th Bihar Regiment, lost their lives at the hands of Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh.

The Indian and Chinese armies are engaged in the standoff in Pangong Tso, Galwan Valley, Demchok, and Daulat Beg Oldie in eastern Ladakh. [KNT]
