Severe Staff Shortage Hits Safapora School, Hampers Student Learning

Safapora, Apr 9, KNT: Government Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS) Safapora in Ganderbal is grappling with an acute shortage of teaching staff, raising serious concerns about the academic future of its students. An internal note from the school has revealed that several key posts at both lecturer and master levels are currently lying vacant, affecting classroom instruction and overall academic functioning.

According to the official document, the school has no appointed lecturers for six core subjects — Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, Urdu, and Education. The absence of subject-specific educators has severely disrupted regular teaching and is putting added pressure on the existing faculty and students alike.

In a further blow to the institution’s functioning, all four sanctioned posts of Masters, including that of the Physical Education Master (PEM), remain unfilled. The cumulative impact of these vacancies is being felt not just in academic performance but also in co-curricular development, which plays a vital role in holistic student growth.

“The situation is alarming. Our children are struggling due to the non-availability of teachers in key subjects. If immediate steps are not taken, this will affect the board results and the morale of the students,” said a local resident, echoing the growing concern among parents and community members.

The internal note has urged the concerned authorities in the Education Department to expedite the recruitment process and fill the vacant posts at the earliest. With the academic calendar already in motion, stakeholders fear the prolonged staff crisis may widen learning gaps and negatively affect student outcomes.

Local residents have called on the Directorate of School Education to intervene urgently and restore normal academic operations in the school, which caters to students from several villages in the Safapora belt.

As the situation remains unresolved, the future of hundreds of students at BHSS Safapora hangs in uncertainty, highlighting the pressing need for administrative attention and swift action.
