Two brick kilns sealed for operating within 9 kilometers radius of Srinagar Airport

BUDGAM: Authorities Monday sealed two brick kilns in Central Kashmir’s Khansahab area for operating within the radius of 9 kilometers of Srinagar Airport.

Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a team led by Naib Tehsildar Khansahab sealed two brick kilns at Parnewa village of Khansahab Budgam.

As per norms no brick kiln can operate within a radius of 10 kilometers of any Airport, however, these brick kiln owners in question had violated these guidelines and set up the brick kiln within the radius of 9 kilometers of Srinagar Airport.

On the directions of Naib Tehsildar, these brick kilns with style name DECO and 51-D were sealed while a notice to the owners Tariq Ahmed Nath and Abdul Hamid Nath, both residents of Srinagar of the brick kilns was served accordingly.

Earlier, a brick kiln at Madbal village of Chadoora was sealed for operating within the radius of 8 kilometers of Srinagar Airport.

Pertinently, people in dozens of villages are up in arms against brick kiln owners for polluting atmosphere. Budgam village has the largest number of brick kilns in Kashmir Valley. (KNT)
