Police seize timber in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal, accused escapes

 

Ganderbal: Police in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district foiled a smuggling bid and seized timber in Hayanpalapora area of Kangan town.

A police official said that acting swiftly upon reliable information about timber smuggling at Hayanpalpora Kangan, SHO Police Station Kangan Inspector Turk Zahoor under the close supervision of SDPO Kangan Syed Yasir Qadri raided the specific location and seized illegal timber from the possession of one Abdul Karim Kumar, a resident of Hayanpalpora Kangan.

The official said that the accused managed to give a slip, taking advantage of topography. “Efforts are on to nab the accused,” he said adding that a formal case has been registered in this regard.

He added that acting tough against timber smugglers, Ganderbal Police assures the general public that the drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure the protection of ‘Green Gold’ from the plunder. (KNT)
