J&K Govt Allocates Land to 498 Landless Families Under PMAY

Srinagar, Mar 9, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir government has allotted five marlas of land each to 498 landless families for constructing residential houses under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme, an official statement said on Saturday.
Responding to a query by MLA M.Y. Tarigami, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj stated that families without land are being provided plots after verification by the Revenue Department.
He further mentioned that extended families from landless backgrounds could also be considered for land allotment, subject to eligibility and evolving scheme guidelines.
Regarding compensation, the minister clarified that J&K follows the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act, 2013, under which compensation is determined as per Section 27 and Subsection (2) of Section 30.
So far, 498 beneficiaries have received land, while 2,727 applications have been rejected. Another 442 cases remain under review by revenue authorities, he added.
