Muslims Perform Last Rites of Kashmiri Pandit Woman in Pulwama’s Pinglana

Pulwama, Mar 7, KNT:
In a touching display of communal harmony, Muslims in Pulwama’s Pinglana village came together to perform the last rites of Rania Ji, a Kashmiri Pandit woman who had chosen to stay in her homeland despite the turbulent times. With no close family around, it was her Muslim neighbors who ensured that she received a dignified farewell.

The villagers not only shouldered her bier but also arranged for all the rituals according to Hindu customs, reaffirming the spirit of Kashmiriyat. “We considered her one of our own. It was our duty to give her a respectful send-off,” said a local resident to the news agency Kashmir News Trust.

Rajesh Raina, a relative who had traveled from Jammu, expressed deep gratitude for the villagers’ gesture. “We are deeply thankful to the people of Pinglana. In times like these, their love and respect for Rania Ji remind us that humanity and Kashmiriyat are still alive,” he said. [KNT]
