BADC Urges LG to Intervene in ‘Arbitrary’ Suspension of BGSBU Professor

Srinagar, Mar 5, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference (JK-BADC), a registered organization advocating for the welfare of border residents and scheduled tribes in J&K, has urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also the Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, to intervene in what it termed as the arbitrary suspension of Dr. Pervez Abdullah, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Studies.
In its appeal, the JK-BADC also called upon the Vice Chancellor and Registrar of BGSBU to conduct an impartial inquiry and disclose the reasons behind Dr. Abdullah’s suspension. The organization highlighted that the professor was not issued a show-cause notice, a procedural necessity before taking such disciplinary action, making the suspension legally questionable.
Dr. Shazad Ahmed Malik, Chairman of JK-BADC and former Vice Chancellor of SNU, expressed serious concern over the matter, stating that it was unfortunate for one of the premier institutions in the Pir Panchal region to be mired in controversies and administrative instability. He extended support to the teaching association of BGSBU in their demand for the revocation of their president’s suspension.
Additionally, Dr. Malik criticized the lack of efforts by both the government and the university administration in promoting academic and infrastructural development at BGSBU, alleging that deliberate neglect was pushing the institution toward decline.
He urged the university authorities to reconsider their decision and provide Dr. Pervez Abdullah with a fair opportunity to present his case. Furthermore, the JK-BADC Chairman called on the university administration to clarify its stance on the experience certificate issued to Dr. Abdullah by the former Registrar on December 13, 2024.
