Trio intending to exfiltrate arrested by police in Uri, two guides also taken into custody
URI: Young hotelier, carpenter and a barber from North Kashmir were arrested by police when they were on way to cross the other side of the border in Uri area of Baramulla district.
Besides the trio intending to exfiltrate, police arrested two guides also in this connection. The trio are in their 20’s.
Divulging information about it, Station House Officer Police Station Uri, Muhamamd Ashraf Pal told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the trio were handed over by a man Majloon Ahmad Sheikh of Dudran Boniyar to Parvaiz Ahmad Hajam of Gowhallan at Boniyar in order to exfiltrate them to the other side of the border (Pakistan Administered Kashmir).
Besides these two guides, trio were arrested at a check-pont at Bandi established by Uri police after receiving information about it from reliable sources.
The police officer said during the course of investigation, it came to fore that three young men were intending to cross the border through Gowhallan Sector and they had sought the help from two guides.
These 3 young men were identified as 27 year old Muhammd Shafi Hajam and Reyaz Ahmed Bhat, both residents of Sheeri Mirror and 17 year old Muhammad Yasir Bhat of Chatloora Sopore. Shafi is a barber, Reyaz owns a hotel in Sheeri Bazar while Yasir is a carpenter.
“Two sharp edged knives were recovered from Muhamamd Shafi,” the police officer said adding that a case under relevant sections have been registered against these five persons. (KNT)
