Governor rule cannot be substitute of elected Government: Ashok Bhan

 

NEW DELHI: Senior Supreme Court Lawyer and Chairman Kashmir Policy and Strategy Group Ashok Bhan has hailed the decision of Union Govt to invite J&K leadership for meeting with Prime Minister.

In a statement to news agency Kashmir News Trust Bhan said that it is the responsibility of all leaders of different political parties who have been invited for meeting to put forth their view point and also frame an agenda to move further.

“Post abrogation, people of both regions have suffered lot due to absence of elected Government, now it is responsibility of all stakeholders to join hands for peace, prosperity and development of both regions.”

He said gun is not the solution of any problem but has generated number of issues which are yet to be settled.

“Our youth are in an adversity due to amiss policies of administration. Union Govt should simultaneously start releasing of political prisoners who have been lodged in different jails inside and outside valley,” Ashok Bhat said.

He said public issues are addressed in democratic set up and not in bureaucratic culture where people have no access in power corridors. “Governor Rule is a temporary phase but cannot be substitute of elected Government. Without asking questions, we can trust our leadership who has participated in poll process of J&K during awful situation. Prime Minister has repeatedly assured nation “A Naya Kashmir” so all eyes are on Thursday’s meeting which hopefully should be apt for all stakeholders for permanent peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Bhan appealed to those youth who have recently joined militant groups to shun the path of violence as it will not serve any purpose but is more painful for them and their parents who have high expectation from them. (KNT)
