Prof. Soz Slams LG Office Over Transfer Orders in J&K

Srinagar, Apr 4, KNT: Former Union Minister and senior Jammu and Kashmir politician, Prof. Saifuddin Soz, has strongly criticized the Lt. Governor’s office for issuing transfer orders in the absence of an elected government. Calling the move “unprecedented” and a “bad precedent” for democracy, he questioned the legitimacy of such executive decisions.
Soz argued that only an elected government should handle administrative matters like transfers. “Nowhere in India do Governors or Lt. Governors issue such orders when an elected government exists,” he asserted.
Urging the Lt. Governor to clarify his stance, Soz highlighted growing public concerns over administrative overreach. He also called on the Central Government to rethink how Jammu and Kashmir, a sensitive border region, is governed, stressing the need for policies in line with the Constitution.
His remarks come as debates intensify over the Lt. Governor’s role and the demand for restoring democratic processes in J&K.
