Bandipora, Apr 8, KNT: The body of a woman who had gone missing a day earlier was recovered from the Madumati stream in the Sonarwani area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday, officials said.
According to an official, the deceased was identified as 30-year-old Jani Begum, wife of Nawab Chowan, a resident of Nigeenpora, Athwotoo.
She had reportedly left her home on Sunday and did not return, prompting her family to file a missing persons report with the local police.
Her body was discovered in the stream earlier today, and authorities have taken cognizance of the incident.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to her death.
