Kulgam Police Seize Vehicles, Arrest Three in Crackdown on Illegal Mining

Kulgam, Apr 8, KNT:  Kulgam Police have intensified their operations and seized three vehicles involved in unauthorized excavation and transportation of minerals from Nallah Vaishow. The seized machinery includes two tractors and one JCB machine.

During the operation, three individuals were arrested for their alleged involvement in the illegal activity. The accused have been identified as Umer Amin Padder, a resident of Okey; Ghulam Hassan Ahangar of Bhan; and Fayaz Ismail Dar from HM Gori.

Police have registered FIR No. 29/2025 at Police Station Kulgam and FIR No. 20/2025 at Police Station DH Pora in connection with the cases. Investigations are currently underway.

A police spokesperson stated that these actions reflect the continued commitment of Kulgam Police to combat illegal mining and safeguard the district’s environmental resources. Authorities have reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against any violations of mining regulations and have urged the public to report such activities to help protect the region’s ecological balance.
