Jammu, Apr 5, CNS: An unidentified intruder was shot dead by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on the intervening night of April 4 and 5 after he attempted to cross the International Border (IB) in the Jammu sector, officials said on Saturday.
According to the PRO BSF Jammu, alert troops noticed suspicious movement near the IB and observed an individual attempting to cross over from the other side. Despite repeated warnings, the intruder ignored the troops’ challenge and continued advancing, prompting the BSF personnel to take action and neutralise the threat.
“The intruder was challenged several times by our troops, but he paid no heed and kept moving. Given the potential threat, our men were left with no choice but to neutralise him,” the PRO BSF Jammu stated.
The identity of the intruder, as well as his motive, is currently under investigation. Officials said that it is yet to be confirmed whether the individual was linked to any militant group or was attempting infiltration for some other purpose.
A strong protest is being lodged with the counterpart across the border regarding the infiltration attempt, BSF officials added.
