DSC Jawan Dies After Army UAV Crashes into IAF Tower at Jammu Airport

Jammu, Apr 12, KNT: A Defence Security Corps (DSC) soldier, Naik Surender Kumar, lost his life after sustaining critical injuries when an Indian Army Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) crashed into an Indian Air Force tower within the technical area of Jammu Airport.
The incident occurred, when the UAV, reportedly a Searcher Mark-2 deployed for surveillance, collided with the tower during its landing approach. The impact caused the UAV to burst into flames, resulting in severe burn injuries to Naik Surender, who was on duty at the tower at the time.
Naik Surender, a resident of Muthi Kalan in Samba district, was immediately rushed to the Military Hospital in Jammu. Despite intensive medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. His mortal remains were transported to his native village, where he was cremated with full military honors.
The technical area of Jammu Airport, also known as the Satwari airfield, is a high-security zone utilized by the IAF’s helicopter unit. Following the crash, authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. [KNT]
