Kupwara, Mar 6, KNT: In a distressing situation highlighting administrative apathy, two deceased individuals, including a 13-year-old boy, remain stranded in Srinagar and Handwara, as authorities have yet to arrange their airlifting to Karnah in Tangdhar, Kupwara.
Frustrated over the prolonged delay, scores of Karnah residents staged a protest at Tangdhar Sumo Stand on Thursday, urging the district administration and the government to provide a helicopter for transporting the bodies to their hometown for burial.
“For the past four days, we have been desperately waiting. One body is lying in Srinagar, while the other is in Handwara. With the road closed, a helicopter is the only way to bring them home,” said a protester, expressing anguish over the ordeal.
The grieving families and protestors accused the authorities of making false promises, stating that every day they are assured a helicopter will be arranged, yet nothing has been done. They criticized the callous attitude of the administration, demanding immediate action to end their painful wait.
As the families continue to suffer, the protesters warned that if authorities fail to act promptly, they will intensify their demonstrations against the government’s indifference to their plight. [KNT]
