Next Time, Seek Votes from AAY Only’: Netizens Trolled NC’s Tanvir Sadiq

Srinagar, Mar 7, KNT: The National Conference legislator Tanvir Sadiq was brutally trolled on social media after he claimed that his party was delivering on its poll promises. His post, in which he highlighted the provision of 200 free electricity units, 10 kg of free ration, free travel for women, stamp duty relief, and enhanced marriage assistance, has triggered a wave of anger among netizens, who accused the government of deceiving the masses.
Netizens pointed out that the promise of 200 free electricity units was for all residents of Jammu and Kashmir, but the benefit has been restricted to the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) category, which constitutes less than 1% of the population. Social media users brutally trolled Sadiq, reminding him of the party’s manifesto and calling the move a betrayal.

“Though not fally under AAY category but we are poor too and Left to Suffer. Your party as usual befooled people,” a netizen wrote.
“Next time, seek votes from the AAY population only, and don’t face the rest of us who are also poor and were waiting for 200 free electricity units,” wrote a furious social media user.
Another user mocked the NC leader, saying, “Delivering promises? More like delivering selective benefits to a handful while the rest of us are crushed under skyrocketing electricity bills.”
Many netizens expressed deep frustration, stating that they are being forced to pay exorbitant power tariffs despite NC’s pre-election assurances. “We voted with the hope that electricity would become affordable, but instead, we are getting inflated bills every month,” said a user.

In Valley, where power consumption is higher due to extreme winters, locals are feeling the pinch even more. “Not only did they fool us with fake promises, but they are also burdening us with backbreaking electricity bills. Our power tariffs have surged, yet they celebrate giving free electricity to a minuscule section of society,” another user wrote
The issue has also sparked a political storm, with opposition parties taking a dig at the NC government. Congress leader Imtiyaz Khan slammed the move, stating, “This is nothing but a cruel joke. The promise was for everyone, but now they have limited it to a fraction of the population. The people feel betrayed.”
BJP leader Altaf Thakur and legislator Waheed Parra also joined the chorus of criticism, accusing the NC of “befooling” the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“People are shocked and searching for NC’s manifesto on the internet. It is clearly written that 200 free units were for all. They have lied and cheated voters.” [KNT]
