JKSBM Coordinators Protest in Srinagar, Demand Job Security and Regularization

Srinagar, Mar 24, KNT: Scores of Panchayat, Block, and District Coordinators under the Jammu & Kashmir Saakshar Bharat Mission (JKSBM) staged a peaceful protest at the Press Club Srinagar, demanding regularization, job security, and official recognition within the Education Department.

The protest, led by JKSBM State President Ms. Gulshani, highlighted the long-pending grievances of coordinators who have played a key role in implementing the Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM), a nationwide initiative launched in 2009 to combat adult illiteracy. Despite their years of service, the employees expressed frustration over job uncertainty and the lack of financial support.

“We have been working tirelessly for years, yet our future remains uncertain,” said Ms. Gulshani. “The government must take immediate steps to address our concerns and ensure job security.”

The protestors called on the authorities to integrate them into the Education Department, arguing that their contributions to literacy programs deserve official recognition and the stability of permanent employment.

The demonstration concluded peacefully, but the coordinators warned of intensified agitation if their demands were not met.
